The data when recorded in sequence and in chronological then this is known as data logging. Chronology means saving the data according to the sequence of time. Data logging is very essential process in almost all the organizations. It allows to safe the data in the computer or to other sources in sequence form, in order to know when the event took place. In a computer a software is used which automatically record the data and events according to the time and sequence. This data then can be used further for auditing. In many cases, the logs are not understandable and thus required further analysis method.

This is a special type of performance played by a diagnostic port of the car. Automotive data logging system has many examples liked PDA or in hand palmtop. In this hand held device software is installed which will log all the events and messages. This mainly happens in mobile where the messages and phone calls are recorded in sequence with time and date information given with each message and phone call. These mobiles, PDA or palmtop is then attached to the diagnostic port of the car. Data logging in car is very useful as it provides that how well the car speed is. With the help of data logger, we can tune the car speed. This is mainly due to the reason that these logger comes to know that the engine is working and what is the timing of ignition and injector plus. By getting information, the failure mode in the engine can be known and replaced.
