Electrical Discharge Machining
Electric discharge machining is the device which can perform the function that an ordinary machine can’t do. Wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) known as wire-cut EDM, uses a thin strand metal wire and it is usually made up of brass. This wire is fed through the workpiece that is submerged in a tank. The tank is filled with dielectric fluid. The wire that is needed to cut requires constantly fed from a spool. The wire is held within the top and down diamond guides. The guides usually move in the axis of x–y plane. The machine is CNC controlled means that this is controlled by computer numeric control. The upper guide moves independently in the axis of z–u–v axis. The wire is controlled by the upper and lower guides and thus moves in different axis. The discharge machine then uses the information from the program and uses the wire to cut into different shapes. The guides help in cutting and shapping the wire.
